Springload has won enough awards to make us think there's something quite special about our little Wellington web design company. Here are some of the things that come together to create the magic.
Springload promotes a workplace that celebrates diversity, creativity and talent. We made a formal commitment to ensuring fairness in our workplace when we joined the Equal Employment Opportunities Trust.
We love web design, it's what we do. But we're also musicians, painters and photographers, mountain bikers, surfers and rock climbers. All of our diverse passions and pastimes come together to form the rich mix of creative energies that is Springload.
Our Friday afternoon Summer Sessions are a chance for us to share our knowledge on a subject that's dear to us with the rest of the team - typography on the web, the latest usability testing practice, social networking, JavaScript ... whatever tickles our fancy. Sometimes we invite guest speakers to enlighten us on topics as diverse as search engine optimisation, global warming, and giving a good presentation.
We feel lucky to live and work in such a beautiful natural environment here in New Zealand and we want to help preserve it for future generations. One of the ways we do this is by monitoring our carbon footprint. With the help of Offset the Rest we have offset our carbon emissions. We recycle as much as we can including all our beer bottles (Which by the end of a Friday night is quite a few).
We believe great design happens in a happy workplace. We try to keep things interesting with guitar jams, Rock Band playoffs, foosball, dress-up days and birthday lunches. Springloaders can loosen up at our in-house Pilates sessions or take on their colleagues at hacky sack or Wii golf.
We help keep our community fresh and lively by working with a bunch of inspiring creative organisations to get their grand plans off the ground. We're proud sponsors of the New Zealand International Arts Festival, the Wellington Jazz Festival, the Wellington Fringe Festival, Chamber Music New Zealand, New Zealand's preeminent chef Al Brown, and the New Zealand Opera.
The standard design process involves a lot of sitting at a computer. The Springload design process also involves some running, jumping, sliding and bowling. We have bike racks so everyone can cycle to and from work. In summer we bust out the cricket set and in winter we turn off our phones for the annual Springload snow trip.
