Alex builds and maintains secure infrastructure as code, and thrives on figuring out problems nobody else has cracked yet. A fast learner by nature, he's the person teams turn to when there's an unfamiliar language, tool or system to get to grips with. Bringing order to complexity gives him real satisfaction, building clean, repeatable patterns for deployments, dependencies and infrastructure that make life easier for the developers around him.

Alex trained as a graduate across development, testing, project management and service management before settling into security, working as an information security analyst and later a security engineer. He holds AWS Certified Solutions Architect and Security Specialist qualifications alongside CompTIA Security+. Before joining Springload Te Pipītanga, he built AWS infrastructure from scratch as the sole DevOps engineer at Canada's Activity Pro, then worked as a cloud engineer for Databricks consultancy Manuka AI, untangling a stubborn legacy Terraform project along the way.

Originally from Manchester, Alex has swapped the UK for New Zealand's green spaces. Away from his laptop, Alex is rarely far from a guitar. Having played since he was seven, he still plays in bands and recently mixed a friend's album. Hiking, trail running, skiing and football round out his spare time, and yes, a childhood highlight was waving a giant flag in front of 75,000 footy fans at Old Trafford.
