
Wellington Airport had a new brand and story to tell. They needed a modern website that shows accurate flight information immediately, and reflects who they are today and where they have come from.
With Wagtail CMS as the backbone, our developers built a website that integrates with multiple APIs to deliver critical flight information seamlessly.
Our designers translated the new brand and te ao Māori design elements into an atmospheric digital experience that reflects the time of day and the importance of the whenua — bringing the airport’s connection to the land, sea, and sky to life.
Many website visitors come for flights and parking information, so we optimised those journeys and streamlined how information is delivered.
Analytics guided a new, intuitive information architecture that puts the most-needed content front and centre. Quicklinks, maps, and flight details are displayed prominently on the home page, while distinct community and corporate hub areas make the website easy to explore.
We redesigned the maps to be clear and accessible, making key information easier to find.




The brand storytelling page is a highlight of the website, designed and built as a sub-site in Webflow. It tells the pūrākau that is the foundation of the brand: the story of Ngake and Whātaitai.
We co-wrote and co-designed the page with Wellington Airport’s brand partner Everyone, and with mana whenua. Kura Moeahu (QSO)—rangatira of Ngā Ruahine, Te Āti Awa, Taranaki–Tuturu, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Toa—shared the pūrākau, explaining how it formed the whenua of Te Whanganui-a-Tara and the peninsula Wellington Airport sits on, and therefore Wellington Airport’s identity.
We worked with esteemed kaihoahoa Manukorihi Winiata (Ngāti Raukawa, Te Āti Awa, Ngāti Awa me Ngāti Tūwharetoa), who shaped the story into a tohu that formed the foundation of the brand and informed the designs we created for use across the website.
The page brings the airport’s new identity to life through bold visuals, immersive storytelling, and interactive elements. It complements the main site while showcasing a rich cultural narrative, creating a meaningful connection between the airport’s digital experience and its physical place.
